188-888A BUSINESS VISA
To be eligible for the 188 Business Innovation (188A) visa you must meet the following broad criteria:
- Own and manage an overseas business with sufficient turnover for 2 years
- Have a good capital base to allow you to invest in Australia; and
- Be prepared to own and manage a business in Australia for 3-5 years.
To apply for the 888 Business Innovation (888A) visa you must meet the following broad criteria:
- Hold a 188A visa for at least 3 years
- Own and manage an Australian business for 2 years before 888A visa application
- Achieve the required turnover in the Australian business for 12 months before 888A visa application
- Have transferred the committed investment amount to Australia; and
- Stay in Australia for 1 year in the 3 years before the 888A visa application.
The 188 is a temporary residence granted for a 5-year period. After 3 years you can apply for the 888 which is a permanent residence visa.
Any member of family granted a 188 visa is automatically included as a family member for the 888 visa application, regardless of the children’s age, work or marital status at the time of 888 visa application. Only the 188-888E has an English requirement.
188-888B INVESTOR VISA
To be eligible for the 188 Investor (188B) visa you must meet the following broad criteria:
- Be an investor who manages their own investments, including residential property investments; and
- Have a high capital base to allow you to invest in Australia.
To apply for the 888 Investor (888B) visa you must meet the following broad criteria:
- Hold a 188B visa for at least 3 years
- Have made the committed investment amounts in Australia; and
- Stay in Australia for 2 year in the 3 years before the 888B visa application.

- Stay in Australia for 40 days per year until granted the 888C visa.

To be eligible for the 188 Entrepreneur (188E) visa you must meet the following broad criteria:
- Have a good business plan to commercialise an innovative product or service
- Have the required English level (5.0 IELTS)
- Demonstrate the potential for your business to create jobs in Australia; and
- Have enough capital to execute on the business plan.
To apply for the 888 Entrepreneur (888E) visa you must meet the following broad criteria:
- Hold a 188E visa for at least 3 years
- Achieved some success in commercialising an innovative product or service; and
- Stay in Australia for 2 years in the 3 years before the 888E visa application.
